The President Anne Gisborne attended a briefing at DET recently, along with Association heads, to be briefed on the Federal agenda for schools, specifically the four National Partnership – Agreement on Improving Teacher Quality, Agreement on Early Childhood Education, Agreement on Low Socio-Economic Status School Communities and Agreement on Literacy and Numeracy.
These documents are available on the Union website through the Administrator/National Partnerships section of the file repository and on this page. These documents describe the Agreements between Federal Government and State/Territory Governmens.
The next tranche, the State/ Territory development of Action Plans, are with the Treasury and D/Prime Minister for approval. When that process is complete, a further briefing will be provided by DET and information will be forthcoming.

Administrators would have by now received their Building Condition Assessment together with the outline of the School Pride funding project. While the assessment report will prove to be of great assistance, it is only a guide, not a prescription for choice of the application of School Pride funding.
Principals may get the impression, from various sources, that the list on the Condition Report is the whole game, but it is not. While it would be prudent to address high risk items from that list, schools have the choice to develop alternative projects, such as IT etc as well as deal with needed maintenance.
The steps of development for the process are as outlined below. In fact the Federal Government is keen to ensure the funds are spent on items seen as important by the school community. These would included list maintained needs but not necessarily only those items.

Principals are not on call 24/7 and do not have to have a mobile phone or a good voice mail so that they can be contacted 24/7. Principals should supply their District Office with a contact number to be used in the case of emergencies.
Principals and teachers are not required to remain at school until the “normal” finishing time if they have configured their school week so that school closes at a different time on one day.
