On your behalf I thank the teacher librarian members who have come together and been part of the establishment of the SSTU Teacher Librarian Reference Group. Good work has been undertaken and we hope to progress matters further in 2010 on your behalf.

Thank you to all members for your work in schools during 2009 and your support of the Union. I wish you and your families all the best for the festive season.

WA TEACHER LIBRARIAN REFERENCE GROUP [SSTU TLRG] 2010 Meeting Dates
Meetings for 2010 will be 4.30 – 6.00pm Tuesday in weeks 3 and 7 of each school term.
Term 1: 16 Feb, 16 Mar. Term 2: 4 May, 1 June. Term 3: 3 Aug, 31 Aug. Term 4: 26 Oct, 23 Nov

LOG OF CLAIMS 2011 DEVELOPMENT
President Anne Gisborne reported at the November meeting that the November 2009 State Council had endorsed the process for consulting with members in preparation for the 2011 Log of Claims. The TLRG will commence such discussions at its first meeting in 2010 and will establish opportunities for broader consultation with teacher librarian members. SSTUWA TEACHER LIBRARIAN REFERENCE GROUP [SSTU TLRG]

The SSTU TLRG is up and operational. It has agreed to meet twice per term. It is establishing an area on the Union website. It has this bulletin which will come out regularly. It is working to support the national call for qualified teacher librarians in schools. It will be contributing to the 2011 Log of Claims.

Dear Member, We have established an SSTU Teacher Librarian Reference Group.  The TLRG will continue to work together on a number of matters pertaining to Teacher Librarians including:

• Raising awareness of conditions of work
• Working to identify elements of conditions Teacher Librarians would seek to have included in the next Log of Claims
• Promoting awareness of the importance and value of having a qualified Teacher Librarian working in schools
• Seeking to establish the position of Teacher Librarian in each school and as one that requires librarian ‘certification’
